Meet the Founder

Alexandria Whitlock
Introduced to boxing as a teenager Muay Thai as a young adult and Jiu Jitsu in her early twenties she made the decision to travel west to the Mecca of jiu- jitsu San Diego, California. Her MMA career was her top priority.
A world champion under the international Brazilian jiu-jitsu Federation and ranked the eighth best in the world for the lightweight division in 2018. Alexandria was just in the midst of her training at this time. As she previously was a silver medalist at Pan Americans, and a champion at American nationals.
After a life threatening assault, she chose to become a survivor, rather than a victim of attempted murder. She used the situation to create a self defense curriculum for women by women, noting that what works for men doesn’t always work well for women.
Testimonials
"Ali takes the time to make these self defense workshops that are approachable and practical for women of all ages and sizes! She's a great teacher and fun to be around. A great balance of playfulness and seriousness for a gathering of women learning self defense. I highly recommend getting started but be warned, it'll fire you up to learn more!" - Kira Silvanus
“After two sessions of training, and looking forward to my third, I can say, I - and my husband - feel safer now after working with Ali and 3E Self Defense.
As a petite woman, there are situations where I typically would feel nervous and fearful. Now when in those situations, I mentally run through the moves I learned, and I have increased confidence I'll return home safely to my family.
Ali (and Bonnie at Zombie) made the classes informative, welcoming, and empowering, while fostering connections with other women who may have also been stepping outside their comfort zone. Ali also helped me understand some of the more difficult movements by connecting them with my existing yoga knowledge.
I'm looking forward to the opportunity to practice these skills again and learning more at the next session!” - Rebekah Peluszak
